Subject: Mama and kittens need loving homes
Please network for me. Here is the story on this family. On Labor Day morning, my dog Ruby and I came upon a cat who had just given birth on the sidewalk near my house. The kittens were hours old. I brought them to my house so that mama kitty could tend to them in peace. The mama cat had a collar with a little bell on it but no name tag. She was obviously someone’s pet and was very loved at some point in her life. My guess is that someone dumped her or they moved away and left her to fend for herself (PREGNANT!). There are three kittens. 2 boys and a little runt girl who I named Marble. Marble is a VERY special little kitty. Last Thursday she almost died. Apparently her brothers had been boxing her out and she wasn’t eating as much as they were. I rushed her to Laurel Pet Hospital and they were able to save her! She spent all day there being tended to by the Vet techs (she won a lot of hearts that day). She is such a fighter and now that she has gained some weight, she is able to push her brothers around. I have been bottle feeding her since the emergency to make sure she is getting enough to eat. I refer to her now as “spit and vinegar” cause she is so glad to be alive and will voice her opinion about anything!
The mama kitty is also a special cat. She has taken very good care of her kittens. She is also VERY mellow and really just wants to be loved and touched (and she is dog friendly!)
Listed below are photos of the family. Please send this email to your friends. Time is of the essence. At the beginning of November, my landlord is moving back to the main house and her dog is NOT cat friendly. Her dog will have access to my back house via my dog door. I can’t take any chances. With that said, please consider being a foster parent if they are not adopted by November 1. I will supply the cat food and the cat litter.
Thank you for passing along and thank you for caring about these special kittys. I am planning to get the kittens their first set of shots. I also will plan on getting everyone neutered before adopting them out. The mama kitty has already been seen by the vet and they say she is about 2 years old and healthy. She is HIV /Cat leukemia negative.
